FISIOROB
Robotic clinical rehabilitation assistance system (ITC-20133011)
The project was born due to the need to develop new rehabilitation therapies to cope more efficiently with injuries caused by cerebrovascular diseases or accidents with spinal cord injury, which leave those affected in an inherent state of dependency and disability. This, together with the current economic context where the enormous costs associated with certain therapies, such as clinical rehabilitation therapies are in question, raises the need for the development of solutions that make these treatments economically sustainable.
Along these lines, the FISIOROB project proposes a new solution based on the combination of robotics with virtual rehabilitation environments, for use in recovering the mobility of the upper extremities of patients in need of “neuromotor” rehabilitation.
Given the complexity of this project, the joint work of a consortium of companies with complementary capabilities in robotics, mechanical design adapted to the health sector, electronics and signal acquisition systems, hospital management and programming, control and hardware design is necessary. Among these group of companies is IZMAR, which is in charge of developing the mechanical structure of the robotic arm.
